In downtown Boston, Georgia, a recent Thursday Night Bingo event successfully raised over $700 to help purchase school supplies for Cross Creek Elementary School. The fundraiser, organized by the Boston Arts & Entertainment Society, was held to help ease the financial burdens faced by local educators as they prepare for the new academic year.
Lindsey Ray, who teaches art to third- and fourth-graders at the Thomas County School System and lives in Boston, compiled a list of essential supplies that she distributed among her peers.
Logan Smith, a founder of the Boston Arts & Entertainment Society, said, “Our goal is to lighten the load our teachers carry each year by providing them with essential classroom and art supplies.” In addition to raising money for supplies, the society gifted a MacBook Pro to Emma Broome, a former student at Brookwood School in Thomasville. Broome, who will study art at Kennesaw State, has contributed significantly to The Silo 31626, a local institution, by providing food services, graphics, and social media support.
“Ashlund Edwards, who co-founded the company with me, and I are committed to ensuring Emma has the tools she needs to achieve her aspirations,” Smith added. Broome plans to continue her involvement with the company remotely while she attends college, extending her support to similar initiatives.
This event highlights the community’s commitment to supporting educational initiatives and helping students and teachers start the school year with the resources they need.
